 Fifth Public Awareness Program

Samvedana Culture & Heritage Trust will hold its fifth public awareness program ‘The Splendor of Kani Jamavar: A Revival’ at the India International Centre, New Delhi, in collaboration.

A rare collection of antique heritage and exquisite kani shawls will be showcased as an exhibition at the art gallery.

The whole program will take you on a romantic journey, a travelogue of the world famous Kani Jamavar shawl beginning with The Mogul Era when the shawl was first brought to its full glory with unsurpassed designs. It will trace the development of the boteh, to the walk along the ‘Paisley’ path and to see the swirling of the boteh in the time of the Sikhs. It will show you the ‘Splendor of Kani Jamavar: A Revival’ the world’s most exquisite handicraft from Srinagar Precinct.
 
A series of workshops cum seminars will be held during the period of the exhibition on Samvedana’s research and development of heritage kani Jamavar designs. The topics will emphasize Samvedana’s continued research, the development of heritage Kani Jamavar designs into weaving and the natural dyeing of Pashmina and Samvedana’s role in Sangam Village. This lovely village in Srinagar Precinct was granted to Samvedana to upgrade pashmina weaving to kani weaving under the Rural Village Tourism Development Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism’s ‘Incredible India’ program.
