Motorized Rallies for the Handicapped

Samvedana has been involved in several charitable social welfare projects. One is the revival of a motorized rally for the handicapped. The physically challenged people have benefited tremendously from the experience. They have not only brought them together but also have created a tremendous sense of achievement in their lives. Employment and better vehicles were made available through the efforts of our associates and organizers as well as other donations that were raised. Now the need is more towards rehabilitation and employment opportunities in industries. Your help is necessary and needed.
Samvedana’s Rock Climbing for under privileged children
For several years Samvedana has been taking groups of underprivileged children from various schools and organizations for a daylong program at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. The timings are from 8.30am to 2 pm. The children are given basic training by trained instructors in the principles of rock (mountain) climbing before first climbing on a low-rise natural rock face and then graduating to a higher simulated wall that was donated by the Tatas. These skills help develop self-confidence, team spirit and survival ability.
It is a fun day for the children while learning these skills. They are provided with a nourishing meal consisting of samosas, laddoos and fruit. In addition to the picnic, they are given a tour of the IMF’s mountaineering museum and watch a couple of movies about mountaineering. Whenever possible we also provide them with the money to go to The Rail Museum on their way back. The day is a wonderful experience for under privileged kids to be able to spend a day doing what normal kids do as a matter of course.
